ST MARYCHURCH, TORQUAY
The town hall, constructed in the 1880’s was taken over by the County Council after the war and became unused about ten years ago.
A rather ‘horrid’ external staircase was added at the turn of the century for a new smaller hall.
The building was very run down.
The large meeting hall was used to provide 3 No three Storey maisonettes and 1 No smaller Two Storey maisonette.
The inner courtyard was transformed by the removal of the ‘horrid’ staircase and the use of hard landscaping to the internal courtyard space.
Three affordable timber framed Town Houses replaced the rather run down public lavatories.
